Cold brew coffee is not a simple cold coffee. The way in which it is elaborated, totally different from the usual, confers it unique characteristics and many virtues that convince even the most faithful espresso drinkers.

Cold brew is not just a type of coffee. It is a brewing method that only uses cold water and time to bring out the flavors of the coffee. The coffee is made without heating it during the brewing process. We make a cold infusion of coffee, that is to say, we macerate the coffee. To do this, we leave the ground coffee in contact with water for at least one night.

What does Cold Brew contribute?

The coffee’s properties, hot or cold, are determined by its roasting; the quantity, temperature and characteristics of the water; the grinding, and the infusion time, among many other factors.
According to coffee experts:

  • Hot brewed coffees have antioxidant properties.
  • Cold brewed coffees are less acidic and therefore more digestive.
  • Cold-brewed coffees have more caffeine than hot coffees, so it is important to keep this in mind and avoid high consumption.

Cold Brew Recipe

With the CBE filter you can easily make cold brew coffee. The important thing for a good result is to start with good ingredients: use a good specialty coffee and natural mineral water.

Ingredients for cold brew coffee:

We recommend using the formula 1:10, i.e. one part ground coffee for every ten parts water.
With the CBE coffee maker filter you can make a minimum of ½ liter and a maximum of 1.5 liters at a time.
The 0.1 and 0.3 overlapping discs are used so that the filter closes hermetically.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Expiration: 5 days in the fridge.

  1. Put the medium-thick ground coffee inside the filter and add the water.
  2. Cover with the blind metal disc or bamboo lid and put in the fridge.
  3. Leave for at least 12 hours and maximum 24 hours.
  4. Remove from the fridge and strain with the help of the CBE mortar.
  5. Consume it alone or with your favorite milk.
  6. It will last up to two weeks in the fridge.

Coffee grinding

With the O’grindy accessory you will be able to grind the coffee on your own in a very simple way. For a good cold brew, it is recommended making a medium-coarse grind. In this way, no more is extracted than necessary and the resulting coffee is not bitter or astringent.

In summer, you can add more cold water or ice cubes. And whenever you feel like it, you can mix milk or your favorite plant milk to obtain a creamier coffee.
